Highlights from Cattle Marketing Report:

Canfax reporting over 42 thousand head of feeder cattle were sold last week, an increase of about 2200 head from the previous week.

Feeder steers prices ranged from $336.71 per cwt for the 300-400lb weight category, to $232.50 per cwt for the 800-900lb weight category.  

Prices for feeder heifers ranged from $257.03 per cwt for the 300-400lb weight category, to $210.00 per cwt for the 800+lb weight category.

The slaughter cow price was down from last week, with the price of D2's dropping $6.21 to $97.79 per cwt,  while the price of D3's was down $2.50 for an average price of $86.57per cwt.

The rail price for non-fed cattle in Alberta ranged between $187.00-192.00 per cwt. This is down $13.00 per cwt on both ends compared to the previous week.

Also of note the price for Lethbridge Barley climbed again last week up $12 tonne to $455.00 per tonne.

Highlights from Hog Marketing Report 

The North American hog and pork prices were mixed.

In Canada, the Signature#4  Index 100 Daily price for Friday Oct. 28, 2022, was $227.14 per ckg (c-k-g)  a price decline of $3.88 per ckg from the previous week.

Meantime, the Signature#4 (Maple Leaf) Index 100 Weekly price dropped $1.10 per ckg (c-k-g) from the previous week to average out at $229.57 per ckg last week.
