Affinity Place will host a Western Hockey League game this September.

The Estevan Bruins made the announcement Tuesday afternoon. The Regina Pats will play the Swift Current Broncos in an exhibition game on Sept. 13 in Estevan.

"We're fantastically excited about this...this is something unique that doesn't happen every day," said Adam Shirley, the director of marketing and operations with the Bruins. "Especially to have a WHL game in the city of Estevan for the convenience that you can go to Affinity Place and see two WHL teams play right at home."

Tickets for the game will go on sale online beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

"The Estevan Bruins are thrilled to be able to bring WHL hockey to Estevan on September 13. After seeing the support of our fan base and the appetite for hockey during last year's playoffs and Centennial Cup we want to continue to bring top quality events to the City of Estevan and Affinity Place," said Bruins president Josh Biggs in a release.

"This a great opportunity for people in Estevan and surrounding areas to watch projected NHL number one draft pick and Pats superstar Connor Bedard in our home rink. The Bruins, Broncos and Pats all recognize the importance of growing the game and supporting hockey at the grassroots level, which is why we’re thrilled to offer one free ticket to every child registered in Estevan Minor Hockey for the upcoming season," said Biggs.

The Bruins said all proceeds from the 50/50 that night plus one third of gate admissions will go towards the Estevan Minor Hockey Association in support of youth hockey in Estevan.

More details are expected in the coming weeks.
