Ice skating, snow mobiling and skiing are among a few of the more popular activities that take place outdoors during the winter months.

When performing any of these activities around bodies of water covered with ice, it is important to use extreme caution.

Deborah Peterson, outreach coordinator with Saskatchewan Red Cross explains that ice strength should never be judged by appearance along and factors such as changing temperatures combined with snowfall amounts and slush can changes the thickness of the ice on a regular basis.
