Flu and COVID shots now available across Saskatchewan
Starting today, October 7, Saskatchewan residents can book appointments for this year’s influenza and COVID-19 vaccines. Shots are available at public health clinics, participating local pharmacies, and select physician or nurse practitioner offices. Health officials are urging high-risk groups to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Seniors, people with chronic conditions or weakened immune systems, pregnant individuals, and children under five are most vulnerable. Residents 65 and older can receive enhanced influenza vaccines at no cost. “By protecting yourself, you are also protecting your family, friends, and community from respiratory illness,” said Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill. “Getting immunized is one of the best ways we can keep each other safe this fall.” Both vaccines are free for residents aged six months and older. Children six months to five years can only receive vaccines at public health clinics, public health offices, or through a physician or nurse practitioner. Residents can choose to receive one vaccine, both, or schedule separate appointments. “Getting immunized early this fall is vital to protecting not only yourself, but your loved ones as well,” said SHA Senior Medical Health Officer Dr. Julie Kryzanowski. “We encourage everyone to receive their vaccines as soon as possible to help prevent respiratory illness in our communities.” Appointments can be booked online at www.4flu.ca or by calling 1-833-727-5829, Monday to Friday. Those choosing a pharmacy should check in advance to ensure COVID-19 vaccinations are offered. Vaccinations are voluntary, but getting immunized now helps protect both individuals and those around them.
