The Estevan Kinsmen & Kinettes held their 1st Annual Kinsmen Classic Fundraiser 3 on 3 ball hockey tournament over the weekend.

After a summer that saw the completion of the rink itself, the idea of the fundraiser came to life as another way to generate funds for a number of costs that still exist.

"We raised $7,500," explained the tournaments director Dereck Wilson. We were hoping for a bit of a better turn out, but it was a great event and everyone was happy with it. We have all ten teams back again for next year already and we're going to have more teams and some other things that will attract more of a diverse crowd."

"There was quite a few out of town teams and a team from Saskatoon ended up beating the Waiver Claims in the final."

The $7,500 will go towards helping with the cost of:

1) the costs of designing and constructing a new warm up building and washrooms at the park

2) purchasing a 35 H.P tractor equipped with an ice cleaner

3) additional concrete pads for the basketball nets and...

4) future upgrades to the park.
