It was a missed opportunity on Friday night at Affinity Place for the Midget AA Apex Bruins in their game against the Swift Current Abbey Resources Broncos.

Entering the third period with a three goal lead, the Bruins were unable to hold on and would see the game head to overtime where things would end in a 4-4 draw.

Dawson Schaff would score midway into the first period on a goal from Kolby Kaban and Dalton Schrader, to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead after one.

Less than four minutes into the second, Jaiden Gervais would score on the power play from Dawson Schaff and Dalton Schrader to put the Bruins up 2-0. With under three minutes to go in the period, Tristian Seeman would give the Bruins a 3-0 lead with his power play marker from Joey Meredith and Dalton Schrader.

Swift current would open the scoring in the third period with three goals in twelve minutes to bring the game to a 3-3 deadlock. With 1:22 remaining in the third, Daymon Wanner would score on the power play from Zach Ashworth and Jordan Stein to break the tie and give the Bruins a 4-3 lead. Only 48 seconds away from grabbing their first win on the season, Beau Larson would score a short handed goal for the Broncos to send the game to overtime.

After a dramatic third period, scoring was held in check in overtime, with the Broncos outshooting the Bruins 5-1 in the extra frame.

Saturday would see round two of the Bruins and Broncos go the opposite way.

After a scoreless first period, the Broncos would take a 3-0 lead in the second period with Estevan outshooting Swift Current 20-9.

Dawson Schaff would cut into the Broncos lead to make it 3-1 on a goal from Jaiden Gervais late in the third. Just over one minute later, Riley Skarbon would score to seal the deal for the Broncos, grabbing the 4-1 win.

The Bruins will travel to Regina on Friday, October 20th where they will see the Regina Vics for the first time this season.
