The Midget AA Estevan Apex Bruins got their season underway in Yorkton over the weekend with a pair of games against the Kinsmen Terriers.

In game one on Saturday, Yorkton would open the scoring just under three minutes into the first period on a goal from Ethan Evanovich to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead. Jaiden Gervais would respond on the power play for the Bruins with assists from Terran Holzer and Dalton Schrader. The Bruins would add to their lead midway through the period on Zach Ashworths first of the season from Tristan Seeman and Kolby Kaban, making it 2-1 after the first period.

Just 12 seconds into the second period, Dawson Schaff would put the Bruins up 3-1 on a goal from Dalton Schrader and Kolby Kaban. Massen Ziola would find the back of the net on the power play for the Terriers to close out the period with a 3-2 lead for the Bruins.

Goals from Evan Mattatal and Tyler Shankowsky would put Yorkton in front 4-3 with under five minutes remaining in the third period. Josh Romanyk would round out the scoring for the Bruins on the power play with assists from Kolby Kaban and Jaiden Gervais to end the game knotted at 4-4.

During Sunday's matinee, Yorkton would storm out of the gate to a 3-0 first period lead with goals from Josh Peppler, Massen Ziola and Michael Coleridge. 

Ashton Shewchuk would extend Yorkton's lead to 4-0 just over three minutes into the second. Josh Romanyk would get his second of the season for the Bruins, this time on the power play from Cale Adams and Dawson Schaff to cut Yorktons lead to 4-1. Josh Peppler would get his second of the night to give the Terriers a 5-1 lead heading into the final period.

Goals from Michael Coleridge, Anthony Roebuck and Tyler Shankowsky would give Yorkton a commanding 8-1 lead with under five minute remaining in the third. Estevan's Terran Holzer would net his first of the season on a power play marker from Jordan Stein to make it 9-2. Vaughn Wilgosh would add one more for the Terriers to secure a 9-2 victory.

The Apex Bruins will have a few days off before they will welcome the Swift Current Abbey Resources Broncos to Affinity Place on Friday night for their first meeting of the season at 8:00.
