It has been an incredible rise to the top of the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League's Midget AA standings for the Midget AA Estevan Apex Bruins.

With a pair of impressive wins over the weekend, the Bruins picked up a big four points on the road in Moose Jaw.

Dawson Schaff and Dalton Schrader dominated the score sheet in a 5-1 win on Saturday night. Schaff scored a hat-trick, while Schrader added a pair in the win to push the Bruins within one point of first place in the standings. Bruins goaltender Bryson Garton posted solid numbers in the win, stopping 24 of 25 shots sent his way.

The Bruins success was replicated on Sunday during the rematch in Moose Jaw, where they took a 7-3 win from the Warriors. League leading scorer Jaiden Gervais also found the back of the net three times in the win.

Sunday's win vaulted Estevan into first place in the standings with a record of 18-7-2, just one point ahead of the Regina Rangers. With 10 games left on their schedule, the Bruins are now in the home stretch as playoffs approach in just over one month.
