The Estevan Sharks Bantam (u14) boys and girls travelled up to Regina on Saturday, January 12 for their fourth tournament of the season.

The boys started out playing their toughest opponent of the night, the Regina Fireship team.  The boys went back and forth the entire game with Lucas Dzeryk scoring 2 goals in the first period and then Jace Carritt and Conner Piche picking up a goal each in the second period, this left the boys in a 4-4 tie.  Their next game was against the Regina Battleship team and the Sharks started out with an amazing first and second period where they notched 8 goals with Logan Dalziel scoring 3, Lucas 2, Jace Carritt 2 and Conner Piche notched in 1 goal.  The boys won this game with a commanding lead of 8-1 with Noah Mvula doing a great job in net for the Sharks.

The boys went very confidently into their third game of the night against the Regina Sailship team.  The boys started out the first period with 4 goals (Dierks Milford scoring 2, Jace Carritt scored 1 and Lucas Dzeryk 1).  Moving into the second period the boys again played great offence and defence and slammed 2 more balls into the net by Josh Heleta and Dierks ending the game in a 6-4 win for the Sharks.

The final game of the night had the boys facing off against the Weyburn Hurricanes.  They ended the first period in a 3-3 tie with Logan, Lucas and Josh each scoring goals for the team.  Going into the second period Logan and Dierks each saw the back of the net and the boys had a 5-4 lead.  Noah managed to hold off the Hurricanes for the remainder of the game and the boys won 5-4 closing out the tournament with 3 wins and 1 tie.

The girls' team finished the tournament with 1 win, 1 tie and 3 losses. They met the Regina Tugboat in 3 games. All 3 games resulted in close scores, but no wins for the girls. (7-5, 9-2, 8-6). The girls swam to a 6-6 tie with the Regina Submarine team. and they beat the Regina Frigate 7-1. Lilly Knoll and Prysm Gooding shared the duties in net throughout the tournament. Both goaltenders played well and made some very tough saves. The youngest player, Rachel Tober (age 10), played well in her very first bantam tournament, making strong defensive plays in all her games. Sadie Smith, Alandra and Aliana Young, as well as Emily and Jordyn Tarnes lead the way offensively and played well defensively all tournament long. Sadie, Alandra and Emily were the only 14u players on the team, the rest were playing up from the 12u Atoms. Regina teams had mostly second year 14u and some 16u cadet players on all their teams. Coach Chad Knoll was very happy with how the Sharks did.
