The Big Six Hockey League is entering the final three weeks of the regular season and after another weekend of great hockey, two teams are beginning to separate themselves from the pack at the top of the standings.

HIGHLIGHTS - WAWOTA @ CARNDUFF:

The league-leading Carnduff Red Devils rattled off two more victories over the weekend, defeating the Wheat Kings in Yellow Grass 7-3 on Saturday night before a dominating 9-1 victory over an injury-riddled Wawota Flyers squad in Carnduff on Sunday evening as heard on CJ1150.

REDVERS EARNS A PAIR OF 6-GOAL WINS

Meanwhile, the Redvers Rockets are the hottest team in the Big Six having now won five straight games after a 6-0 shutout win over Wawota on Friday night and a convincing 8-2 win on Saturday over the Arcola/Kisbey Combines.

COUGARS UPSET COALERS IN CARLYLE TO BREAK TWO STREAKS

The most shocking result came on Sunday night from the Carlyle Sports Arena. The Cougars finally snapped a prolonged 17-game losing streak with an impressive 6-2 victory over the red-hot Bienfait Coalers, who had their own four-game winning streak snapped in the process.

BIG SIX STANDINGS

- Carnduff (33 points) now holds a five-point lead over Redvers (28 points) for top spot in the Big Six. Both teams have five games remaining.

- Redvers is only two points up on Wawota (26 points), however the Flyers currently have only been able to dress 10-12 skaters due to injuries over the past two weeks and it's expected that players may not return to action until closer to the end of the season.

- Bienfait and Yellow Grass (22 points) are tied for fourth overall in the standings, though Bienfait does have a game-in-hand. If the playoffs started today, the two teams would face each other in the first round.

- Carlyle's (5 points) win puts some much-needed separation between themselves and the Arcola/Kisbey Combines (2 points) for the final playoff spot in the Big Six. The two teams have split their first two games this season, and will play each other again on February 2nd.
