HIGHLIGHTS:

The Big Six semi-finals resumed on Tuesday night after stormy weather postponed both Game 3's.

For the Redvers Rockets, the extra days were worth the wait as they advanced to their first championship series since 2009. While the Carnduff Red Devils are now one win away from joining Redvers in the final.

REDVERS SWEEPS SERIES OVER BIENFAIT WITH 5-2 WIN

The Redvers Rockets put themselves in a position to sweep the semi-final against the Bienfait Coalers on home ice after a 6-4 win in Game 1 and an impressive 3-0 victory in Bienfait in Game 2.

Dylan Herzberg Scored His 6th Goal Of The Playoffs.

Game 3 would be a ferocious battle from start to finish. Neither team would be able to score in the first period with the score remaining 0-0.

That would change significantly in the 2nd period. The Rockets would score the first goal of the game as Drew Hoff took advantage of a miscue by Bienfait in their own zone. With the Coalers on the powerplay, goaltender Jackson Walliser played the puck behind his own net with Hoff bearing down on him. The puck went around the boards to Tyler Spencer, where it bounced off his skate and out towards the slot. Hoff shot the puck towards the open net and despite a diving effort by Walliser, the puck would cross the line to put Redvers up 1-0.

However, Bienfait wouldn't be rattled as on the same powerplay, Dylan Herzberg deflected a perfect shot-pass from Jason Hengen to tie the game 1-1. The Coalers would take their first lead since early in Game 1 with 9:57 left in the 2nd period as Dustin Stepp finished off a tic-tac-toe passing play to put Bienfait up 2-1.

Bienfait's Dustin Stepp & Redvers' Dustin Purvis Engaged In A Heavy Tilt In The 2nd Period.

But on the next shift, the game and the series would turn back into the Rockets' favour. Dustin Purvis laid a heavy hit in the corner of Coalers' captain Kyle Garagan that shook him up as he was slow to get up. As Garagan made his way off the ice, he shouted towards the referee because there was no penalty call on the play. Garagan would be given a 2-minute penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct and during the stoppage of play, Stepp would drop the gloves and engage in a spirited fight with Purvis as both players were ejected from the game.

On the ensuing powerplay for Redvers, Rockets' defenceman Craig Gaudet fired a seeing-eye shot through a screen to tie the game at 2-2. Before the 2nd period would end, Todd Gervais potted home a rebound to give Redvers the 3-2 lead entering the final period.

Bienfait's comeback hopes would take an early hit just 40 seconds into the 3rd period. Jordon Miller's shot would be deflected in front by Bradey Fidierchuk to put Redvers up 4-2.

Todd Gervais Scored Two Goals, Including The Game-Winner.

A key moment in the game came halfway through the 3rd period as Thomas Bauche made two big saves in a row for Redvers. The Rockets then took the puck back down the ice and Gervais went top corner for his second of the game as his insurance marker made it 5-2 for the Rockets.

The Coalers' league-leading offence couldn't find their groove the rest of the way, and Redvers skated off with a 5-2 victory and a series sweep over Bienfait.

The Rockets will face the winner between Carnduff and Wawota in the Big Six Championship Final, beginning next week.

CARNDUFF CRUISES PAST WAWOTA 5-1 IN GAME 3; FLYERS FACE ELIMINATION ON THURSDAY

The best team in the Big Six during the regular season is now one win away from reaching the championship final.

Carnduff Can End The Series On Thursday In Wawota.

The Carnduff Red Devils jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over the Wawota Flyers in Game 3 thanks to two goals from Matt Audette and one from Shawn Gallant.

Trevor Geiger added to Carnduff's lead in the 2nd period, with Audette assisting for his third point of the game and Gallant assisting for his fourth point of the night. The Red Devils led 4-0 after two periods.

Gallant would make it points on all five Carnduff goals with his second of the game in the 3rd period to make it 5-0. Riley Riddell got Wawota on the board with 10 minutes to go for his first goal of the playoffs, but that would be all for the Flyers on the night as Carnduff won Game 3 by a score of 5-1.

Carnduff now leads the Best-of-5 series (2-1) and can eliminate the two-time defending Big Six Champions in Game 4 on Thursday. The Wawota Flyers will look to keep their hopes of a three-peat alive with an 8:00 start on Thursday on CJ1150 from the Wawota Community Forum.
