Since the holiday season, the Oxbow Huskies have started to pick up their play for the better. After they had a tought loss to Carnduff, they got their first win over the Bienfait Coalers in 4 years, dating back to November 10th, 2015. They went for blow for blow with the Carlyle Cougars in a tough 5-4 loss, and they were looking to continue on that momentum into their home game against the Arcola/Kisbey Combines.

As for the Combines, they've been continuing their struggles throughout the season as they haven't gotten their first win of the season and were looking to do that against the team just ahead of them in the standings.

The Combines would get the start they needed against the Huskies as the Combines would score on their first shot of the game, fifty eight seconds into the game when Landon Runge picked up a loose puck off the side boards and fired a shot right overtop of the glove of Tyler Myers.

Then, fourteen seconds later, the Huskies would tie things up when Kolby Fleury would dump the puck in and chase after it, then get control behind the net and wrap the puck around to sneak the puck past Keegan Mitchell to tie it up right away.

If two goals in the first minute and twelve wasn't enough, we got another one at the minute-twelve in. Reed Loucks would get control once again for the Huskies and fire a shot under the glove of Mitchell to take the lead for the home team.

After the wild first two minutes, things would calm down until five minutes in. The Combines would tie the game back up once again when they got an almost identical goal to the last from Oxbow, Rhett Palmer coming down the left side of the ice, firing a shot under the glove and over the pad.

Near the halfway mark, the Huskies would take their lead back when Derek Cooney would get his frist of the game on the power play, an easy tap in goal on the powerplay thanks to an assist from Taysen Holt behind the net.

The final goal in a busy first period would come from the Combines, 58 seconds left to tie the game up when Lucas Hislop would blast the puck off the draw and fire it along the ice, right by the pad of Myers.

After the first: 3-3

The second period would take a tie game to a very, very lopsided one. The defenceman, Ryley Giblett would score off a rebound in front, and the run would start from there. The Huskies would get a seven minute powerplay thanks to a cross check from Kevin Gauthier to Taysen Holt that caught him up high, and they would score twice, one from Matt Weinrauch and Holt.

After that, Cooney would add another to the board, and Holt would tap in two rebounds of his own to finish off the hat trick, the period, and the night in net for Keegan Mitchell.

After two: 9-3 Oxbow

The third period would unfortunately not get any better for the Combines. Five minutes in, Kyle Gessner would skate down the length of the ice, going goal line to goal line and fire the first goal of the period passed replacement goaltender Zac Eaton.

Klae Bayda would walk over the blue line afterwards to fire in another hard wrist shot, then Giblett would fight for another rebound to add his second goal of the game, and Levi Barnstable would take a drop pass from Derek Cooney to score once again.

The Combines would see a small glimmer in the third, the second goal from Lucas Hislop off a hard wrist shot that snuck under Tyler Myers' pad, but he would be answered with only four seconds left when Kolby Fleury would wind up to the roof and blast a slap shot over Eaton's pad, finishing the dominant win for the Huskies.

FINAL SCORE: Oxbow 14 - 4 Arcola/Kisbey

Taysen Holt had four points in the effort to try and catch up to Kenton Miller of the Redvers Rockets, the only man ahead of him in the Big Six scoring race.

Tyler Myers got his first win of the season in his third start of the season.

A fight in the final ten minutes of the game will result in suspensions for both teams, as well as some other possibilities in the rough game between the two teams.
