After a few blowouts and one double overtime game Tuesday and Wednesday in all the game ones, every team in the Big Six got game number two of their series under way, including another double overtime game.

Carlyle (4) vs. Bienfait (5), 1-0 Bienfait after game one.

Game one took an extra period and a half to determine a winner when the Bienfait Coalers and Carlyle Cougars met in game one, and the Coalers got rid of the home ice advantage when they got the win thanks to a goal at the 11 minute mark of the second overtime with 10 seconds to go on the powerplay. Dylan Herzberg, who led the league with 30 goals and 51 points at the end of the regular season, had two goals in the game, while Ben Johnstone, who led the league for the majority of the season before an elbow injury sidelined him, was held pointless in game one.

In the first period, the teams fired back and forth early one before the Coalers would break the ice and quickly. Four minutes in, Dylan Herzberg would get his third when a scramble play on the left side of the offensive zone would leave the puck for Herzberg to pick up. He'd skate unimpeded into the centre of the zone and fire a wrist shot under the blocker of Landon Audet, and put the Coalers up by one.

The Cougars would fire back shortly however. In the game's first penalty, Wyatt Garagan of the Coalers would take a slashing call that sent him to the box, and the Cougars would capitalize with ten seconds on the powerplay. Josh Brown would fire a shot from the blue line and Brent MacLean would get a stick on it, tipping it in and tying the game 7:27 in.

Then, another six minutes later, the Coalers would get back on top thanks to Matt Bourassa. He'd score his first off a bouncing puck in front of the net, and the Cougars would try to swat it out of the zone, but end up putting it right on Bourassa's stick, who put it right in the net. Bourassa would come back in the zone and park in front, Dallas Kickley would fire a shot through traffic and hit Bourassa's stick for the tip in, 3-1 after two straight from Bourassa.

Then, with four minutes to go, a play similar to the one Herzberg scored on earlier in the period where instead Herzberg would again get the puck, this time sending a pass to Wyatt Garagan in front, who was skating the other way from where Audet was sliding and potted the fourth of the period.

After one: 4-1 Bienfait

The second period would start up similar to the last, a back and forth battle that kept things locked up, but the Cougars would get the first this time. Brett Turgeon would take a shot from the top of the circles, and Billy Greenwood would get the third tip in goal of the game.

Then, the floodgates opened. Ben Johnstone took a penalty for high sticking, and on that penalty, Preston Erickson would take a wrist shot that Audet would get his glove on, but not enough as it bounced over and fell in the net behind him.

Johnstone would take two more penalties in a row, a tripping call that didn't hurt his team, and a boarding call where the Coalers would score again thanks to Keegan Malaryk, another assist coming from Dylan Herzberg, and on the goal, a few words and punches would be thrown, and offsetting minors would insue to MacLean of the Cougars and Erickson of the Coalers, although Erickson would end up with an unsportsmanlike as well.

Erickson would get a partial assist from in the box, as Dallas Kickley came down the ice with a head of steam, right by the penalty box with one man to beat. Erickson yelled out from the sin bin that he had a man with him, a two on one, and Kickley stopped up and made a beautiful feed over to Dylan Herzberg who would have a breakaway from the top of the circles on the left side of the ice. He'd fake the wrist shot, draw Audet out of the net, and flip the puck over him on the backhand.

After two: 7-2 Bienfait

To start the third period, the Cougars would switch Audet out of the crease for Kruz Wilson. The Coalers would extend their lead early on. Wyatt Garagan would score the first one of the period, getting a tip from Tyson Price passed Wilson's pads for the 8-2 lead.

Then, down by six, the Cougars would start the comeback at the 7:02 mark. Brett Turgeon would win a battle on the side boards in the Coalers' zone and skate in over the top of the circle and fire in a wrist shot passed Walliser.

Then, 31 seconds later, Turgeon would come down the right side of the ice and get knocked over by a defender, but not before taking the shot that would again get by Walliser.

Another 45 seconds would pass, and the Cougars would score again from another tip in, this time from Cooper Fox when he tipped in Kelly Currie's shot to go from a six goal game to only a three.

The Cougars would continue to press back but to no avail, and the Coalers would add one more in the offensive battle, a blast from the point from Preston Erickson that Wyatt Garagan got a stick on for his third of the game, again from less than three feet away from the net.

FINAL SCORE: Bienfait 9 - 5 Carlyle                              Series Score: 2 - 0 Bienfait

The Coalers have held Ben Johnstone off the scoresheet for the first two games of the series, and also forced the Cougars to pull Landon Audet since a January 24th against the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings. Dylan Herzberg has 7 points in two games.

Redvers (2) @ Wawota (7), 1-0 Redvers after game one.

If one marathon game in a week wasn't enough, two should be. The Rockets and Flyers game one was a bit of a beat down for the Flyers on the road, and were looking to make a comeback win at home.

The first three goals of the game would all come on the power play, starting with the Rockets. Rob West would take a penalty for hooking, giving Kevin Mann the chance to get one passed Guilliame Blouin, who missed the first game.

Then, Dustin Purvis would take a call for elbowing, and the Flyers would capitalize thanks to their leading scorer in Derek Frater with five minutes left in the period.

After one, 1-1.

In the second, another power play opportunity would present itself for the Rockets when Kayla Swanson took a holding call. Brady Gaudet would pot the third straight power play goal.

Wawota would get the first even strength goal of the game to keep the game all knotted up only two minutes later thanks to Devin Stewart, but again the Rockets would come back to retake their lead when Dakota Rose scored.

The back and forth play would continue when the Flyers would come back and score at even strength from Ryan Taylor with five minutes left in the period, but if the five second period goals weren't enough, Redvers would retake their lead once again with 16.3 on the clock, the goal going to Brady Gaudet for his second.

After two, 4-3 Redvers

In the third period, Thomas Bauche and Guilliame Blouin would keep the creases locked up for almost as long as possible, and the penalties would come to a minimal, but still nothing would happen. The last minute would begin, not a single goal in the period. The Flyers would pull their goaltender, and the six on five would begin. The Flyers would press on, and the Flyers would have their prayers answered thanks to an unassisted goal from Dylan Lamontagne, 1.4 seconds on the clock. Tie game.

After three, 4-4

The first overtime, yes first, would only add three penalties to the scoresheet, but one that would make a difference. With 29.8 seconds on the clock, the Rockets would go down by a man when Brady Fidierchuk tripped a man. That penalty would carry through the end of the period, and in the fifth period, the second overtime, the Flyers would score the game winner thanks to Justin Lamontagne.

FINAL SCORE: Wawota 5 - 4 Redvers (2OT)                              Series Score: 1 - 1

According to the rumour, the Flyers were heavily out shot but Guilliame Blown stood on his head to help his team over the Rockets. Ryan Taylor and Devin Stewart have 9 points each thanks to the survivor series, each sitting for a tie at the top of playoff scoring.

Yellow Grass (1) @ Kipling/Windthorst (9), 1-0 Yellow Grass after game one.

In the battle of the Kings, the Wheat Kings scored like crazy to get a big 9-1 win over the Oil Kings, staying undefeated in the Yellow Grass rink.

The first period would be a defensive battle, forcing the play to stay tied at zero for the first thirteen minutes. The ice would finally crack open a bit when Devin Cobbold would score first for Yellow Grass, and a less than a minute later the Wheat Kings would add another from Cole Rooney.

In the second, the first fifteen minutes of the period would again be a long defensive battle, and again the Wheat Kings would score first. The third goal would again come from Cobbold, but the Oil Kings would fire back first. With 1:11 left on the clock, Brandon Munro would bring his team back to within two, but that wouldn't last long. Mike Onstad would restore the three-goal lead for Yellow Grass before the period could end.

In the third, the defensive trend would continue to extend until the final minute of the period. The Oil Kings would score with 1:32 left in the game thanks to James Schaeffeur, but any hopes of a comeback would be thwarted when Brandt Hudson scored to end the game.

FINAL SCORE: Yellow Grass 5 - 2  Kipling/Windthorst                              Series Score: 2 - 0 Yellow Grass

The Wheat Kings and Oil Kings will play game three from Yellow Grass on CJ1150 on Sunday.

Carnduff (3) @ Midale (6), 1-0 Carnduff after game one.

The Red Devils have been dominant particularly in the second period of their games, and that would be the case again in this game.

Starting in the first however, the Mustangs would take the first lead late in the first period. Steven Lindenbach would score the first of the game with three minutes left in the first period, but even with little time on the clock, the Red Devils would strike back. :55 seconds on the clock, and the Red Devils would tie the game thanks to Blake McMillen.

Tied at 1 after the first.

In the second, the Red Devils would take the lead and heavily. Five straight goals from four different players, Tanner Reynolds, Mark Moriarty, Justin Smith, and two from Trevor Geiger would make it a 6-1 game. The Mustangs would stop the scoring for a moment with just over a minute left in the period thanks to Steven Lindenbach's second, but only thirty seconds later the Red Devils would pull back to a six goal lead thanks to Mark Moriarty's second.

In the third, only a single goal would come, three minutes in Callan Deschner would spark some hope for the Mustangs, but that's as close as it would get.

FINAL SCORE: Carnduff 7 - 3 Midale                              Series Score: 2 - 0 Carnduff
