HIGHLIGHTS:

The Redvers Rockets kept the Oxbow Huskies on their leash during the regular season by winning all three games between the two teams, and the Rockets' carried that strong play against Oxbow into Game #1 of their Best-of-3 series on Thursday night.

The Rockets' offence was near-unstoppable in the series opener as Redvers cruised to a 9-3 victory over the Huskies at the Redvers Rec Centre.

Taysen Holt Had 3 Points For Oxbow In A Losing Effort.

Oxbow would get the first goal of the series, as the co-leader in points in the regular season Taysen Holt deflected a Blake Brooks shot past Thomas Bauche to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead.

But Redvers, who was dominating the play at the time, stuck with the gameplan and it paid off in a big way. The Rockets scored four unanswered goals to end the first period with Dakota Rose, Remi Lamotte, Jordon Miller and Sean Jonasson put Redvers up 4-1.

The Rockets added to their lead early in the 2nd period with Craig Gaudet scoring from the point and Jonasson deking out Oxbow's Ethan Veroba for his second of the game to make it 6-1 Redvers. Brycen Odgers got one back for Oxbow on the next shift to make it 6-2, but Redvers stomped out any thoughts of a comeback with two late goals from Kelsey Kenler and Miller's second of the game. The Rockets led 8-2 after two periods.

The final period did not generate any reason for Redvers to worry about a collapse. The two teams traded goals with both Oxbow's Holt and Redvers' Rose getting their second of the game to make the final score 9-3 for the Rockets.

Redvers will have the chance to end the series in Game #2 on Sunday, February 18th at 8:00 in Oxbow.
