A busy night went down in the Big Six Hockey League on Saturday, with a couple of surprising twists.

The streaking Carnduff Red Devils traveled to Bienfait to take on the Coalers. Both teams struck at each other rather early, and headed to the locker rooms for the first intermission with the scoreboard reading 2-1 for the home squad. The Coalers then lit the afterburners in the second frame, with Wyatt Garagan, Kyle Garagan and Dustin Stepp all finding the back of the net behind Carnduff goaltender Cody Dumaine. Matt Audette would also add another for the Red Devils. The third period saw each side add one more to the board to bring the final score to 6-3 for Bienfait, snapping Carnduff's 10 game win streak.

Meanwhile, the Wawota Flyers opened the doors to the Wawota Community Forum to the Redvers Rockets. Outscored in the first frame 2-1, Wawota saw the trend continue into the second, as the Rockets added fuel to their fire with three more, while Wawota was only able to sneak one more into the mesh. Drew Hoff of the Rockets put the nail in the coffin with one more goal in the third, for a 6-2 win for Redvers.

Over in Arcola, the basement dwelling Combines played host to the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings. AJ Schlenker drew first blood for Arcola midway through the first frame, with Brendon Vertefeuille evening it up for the Wheat Kings just before the intermission. Two more from Yellow Grass in the second was matched by only one from Duane Hislop, while the third saw Rhett Palmer add one more for the Combines. Devon Johnson and Vertefeuille sealed the deal, however, for a 5-3 victory for Yellow Grass.

And in Carlyle, the Cougars took on the Oxbow Huskies. Oxbow scored twice in the first, while Ethan Veroba let one squeeze past into the net. The second period saw Carlyle add two more, while Taysen Holt evened it up on his own for the Huskies to bring it to 3-3. Then, in the third period, Bryson Mayer and Brycen Odgers put the cap on the cappuccino for Oxbow while Ben Johnstone added one more tally to bring the final score to 5-4 for the Huskies.
