The major annual fundraiser for the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins is just weeks away as the Sportsmen Dinner returns to Estevan on Wednesday, May 3rd.

Year after year, the dinner generates a good chunk of the team's bottom line, and Head Coach and GM for the club Chris Lewgood mentions it's no different this year.

"With corporate revenues being down at the beginning of the season it makes it all the more important to fundraise."

"With this being such an important fundraiser to us, it becomes a very big night."

The doors will open at 5:30pm with Rod Pederson, voice of the Saskatchewan Roughriders returning as the Master of Ceremonies for the event and will be joined by a big-name headliner.

To highlight the 2017 dinner, Saskatchewan-born investment banker, business man and philanthropist Brett Wilson will be the guest speaker.

Wilson is well known for his role on the popular show Dragons' Den. Wilson also has a background in sports as he is a part owner of the Nashville Predators and the English football club Derby County FC.

"He has strong opinions on both economics and politics. He's the type of person that will resonate with the folks of southeast Saskatchewan," expressed Lewgood.

To make a great night even better, the live auction taking place had Chris Lewgood excited when asked about the prizes.

"We've got a lot of tremendous live auction items, probably the best we've ever had at a Bruins sportsmen dinner to go along with a very good selection of silent auction items."

The 2017 Sportsmen Dinner will be on May 3rd inside Affinity Place.
