For the second time in his coaching career, Power Dodge Estevan Bruins Head Coach and General Manager Chris Lewgood spent time during the NHL's Draft weekend brushing shoulders and learning from some of the most successful coaches in the National Hockey League at the NHL Coaches' Association Clinic. That short list of coaches includes the likes of three time Stanley Cup winning Head Coach Joel Quenneville, Hall of Fame Defenseman turned Head Coach Phil Housley, Barry Trotz and Bruce Boudreau just to name a few.

The clinic provides an opportunity for NHL coaches to give back by sharing their knowledge and expertise, which is something Lewgood took advantage of.

"They do a good job and they're very organized," Lewgood said. "The presentations are fantastic. You sit through eight hours of presentations and then there's an hour of break out groups where you get five or six coaches sitting with NHL coaches. They structure that to be presentations, but it turns more into a question and answer where guys can ask more specific questions on hockey theory and different things to do with the game."

"There's a lot of opportunities to network and share information with colleagues and with guys at higher levels. You're always learning."

Lewgood attended the same clinic two years prior in Florida, and says the event has more than doubled since that time.

"Two years ago when I was there, they had about 200 attendees. Its growing rapidly, there was about 500 at this years."

Among the notable happenings on the weekend was taking in the NHL Draft. Lewgood saw the Montreal Canadiens select former TS&M AA Bruin Cale Fluery, who was taken in the 3rd round 87th overall.

"It's exciting, I was lucky enough at the draft to spend time with the Fleuery's at the draft. Its a special moment to see their son succeed, especially when so many kids in Canada grow up dreaming about getting drafted. Its nice to see that hard work pay off," he Concluded.
