The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins opened up their 2017 preseason schedule on Monday night in Wilcox against the Notre Dame Hounds.

In an all rookie match up the black and gold would lead 3-2 after the first period with goals from Reich, Culling and the Bruins first round pick from this years draft, Cal Caragata. With two goals from Raihan Kheraj in the second, the Bruins found themselves up 5-4 heading into the third period. Third period goals from Martin and Irey would seal the deal to give the young squad from Estevan the 7-4 victory over the Hounds.

On Tuesday night, the Bruins welcomed the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Waywayseecapo Wolverines to Affinity Place for an inter-league match up with more of a veteran line up on the ice.

Midway through the first period, second year forward Michael McChesney opened up the scoring where only 30 seconds later, Bismark's TJ Irey buried another one to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead. British Columbia native Raihan Kheraj would add one more before the end of the period to extend the lead to 3-0.

In the second period the Bruins would score four goals in seven minutes to extend their lead to 7-0. Kaelan Holt, Andrew Warhoftig, TJ Irey and Michael McChesney found the back of the net, while Bruins Veteran Zach Goberis assisted on three of those goals.

Five minutes into the third period, Andrew Warhoftig would net an unassisted marker for his second of the game for the forward from Texas. Goals from McChesney, Kilroy and Goberis would extend the lead to 11 to give the Bruins the shutout victory.

Out-shooting the Wolverines 59-19, the two goalies for the black and gold didn't see much action, but were sharp when they needed a big save. Tyler Szturm turned away nine shots in the first period and a half while Matt Lukacs made ten saves in his half game.

Preseason action continues this weekend with a home and home series against the Weyburn Redwings starting on Friday, September 8th at 7:30 inside Affinity Place.
