An extremely emotional and heartfelt year in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League officially came to a close over the weekend in Nipawin during the leagues annual general meetings.

Teams will now turn the page to a new season, which will see a number of things come down the pipeline in 2018-19. Following the SJHL bantam draft which took place on Friday morning, a number of discussions took place between the SJHL and its board of governors.

Following the tragic accident involving the Humboldt Broncos, a dispersal draft will take place, which will likely see one player from each team in the league move to play for the Humboldt Broncos. Although no clear parameters have been set, the SJHL hopes to have this completed in the next couple weeks.

Discussions were also held on a league wide pay to play model, with the idea being rejected, although a decision was made to allow one team to be a pilot project in being a pay to play team within the SJHL with some of the findings being forwarded to the league for discussion at the fall SJHL meetings.

Estevan Bruins President, Cory Prokop spoke about the potential of the Kindersley Klippers using the pay to play model.

Prokop on marketing the league and the success of the SJHL/MJHL showcase.

Last but not least, Prokop spoke about the Bruins success this past season, and the hope for it to continue into the future.
