Kaelan Holt's junior hockey career may be over, but his hockey story still has chapters left to be written. Holt will pen the next chapters in the ACAC with MacEwan University in Edmonton after agreeing to join the team in 2018-19.

A native of Estevan, Holt spent three years with the hometown Bruins, joining the team in 2015 as a rookie and posting 27 points in 50 games. He played four games at the Western Canada Cup that year, scoring once.

Holt's offense, always a hallmark of his game, picked up in his second season in which he scored 27 goals and 56 points in 55 games to be the Bruins third leading scorer. His coaches often praised his defensive awareness and ability to build up his linemates.

Those attributes were on full display in his final season in Estevan, when he potted 31 goals and 69 points in 57 games before leading the league in playoff scoring with 22 points in 16 games.

MacEwan Griffin's head coach Michael Ringrose said in a release that he knows he's getting more than just a point-producer in the former Bruins stalwart.

"Kaelan certainly has the ability to make players around him better and was a driving force behind their (the Bruins) success over the last couple of years."

"We're excited," he added. "We think he's going to be able to come in and add offence. He will be another really important piece for us - another member of a team that has had post-season success and pushed for championships."

Holt finished his SJHL career having played exclusively for the Bruins and posting 152 points in 162 games. He is 18th all-time in franchise scoring and third among players from Estevan in the team's 60-year history.

Holt was very excited to get his start at MacEwen, which he says intends to move up a division to the U-Sports level next year. Our full interview with him is above.
