A hot and muggy Sunday afternoon saw the Carlyle Cardinals take to Panteluk Field in Estevan for the Senior AA Tier 2 provincial final, dueling it out against the defending champs, the Border City Blue Jays out of Lloydminister.

With only one loss in the tournament leading up, and that to the Yorkton Yankees, they returned the favour in a 17-3 victory in the semifinal. However, they were unable to keep pace with Border City, with the end result a 14-4 defeat to settle for silver.

Meanwhile, the hosting Estevan Tap House Wolves struggled off and on, finishing 1-2 on the tournament and missing the playoffs.

"It's a little disappointing," expressed player and Manager Jolen Lingelbach, "Being league champions and stuff like that then getting a chance to host the tournament, we felt really good coming in. We didn't play as well as we wanted to, our pitching struggled at points and our batting struggled at others, we just couldn't put it all together at once."

"However, one of our guys brought up the point that not many teams get the chance to win their last game of the year, and we did that. So all in all, it's a successful year, and we're sure glad we got to host and have these teams here and show off these great facilities that we have."

Oxbow made it to the semi finals, where they were subdued by Border City, while Carlyle put Yorkton away to advance.

Several other Saskota teams were in provincial play throughout the province. In Carnduff, the Astros couldn't make it out of the round robin, while Redvers lost the final to the Standard Hill Lakers. In Windthorst, neither the Pirates nor the Kenosee Cubs made it to the finals.
