Community support in southeast Saskatchewan is second to none when it comes to giving back.

Chapmans Fine Foods in Arcola is just the latest example of that generosity as they recently donated $5,000 towards the minor ball program in Arcola.

"This is our third street dance that we have put on and we pick some where in the community that needs extra help that year," explained the owner of Chapmans Fine Foods Cheryl Bell. "We realized that we made so much money using the ball grounds to put on the slow pitch tournament that brought everybody to the street dance. We wanted to put the money back into the ball association."

The business has been in the Chapman family for 40 years and after Cheryl moved away to Ontario, she bought the business from her parents ten years ago. It was around five years ago that she made the move back to run the store. Bell mentioned how heavily involved her family has been with the local sports scene over the years and how important it is for the community.

"My kids play ball on those diamonds so it seemed like a perfect fit. Being a business that wants to give back to the community we realized we should put it into the sports and kids coming up that get all these opportunities to have all these great coaches come out and teach our kids because we always had people to come out and support us when we were younger," she concluded.
