The City of Estevan showed their support for the upcoming SaskTel Tankard this morning as they announced their sponsorship for the event.

"We're very proud to be an 8-Ender Platinum sponsor," explained Estevan Mayor, Roy Ludwig. "Whatever we can do to help out along with that, we're willing to do because of course, this will bring a lot of people to our community and I know it will end up being a very exciting event for everyone involved."

"We're proud to be part of it. We know that with all of the people coming into our community, our community will benefit as well, the hotels, all of the restaurants. So anytime we can sponsor or help get involved in any event this size, we're more than happy to do."

The City is committed to bring more events like this to the community. In the past, Estevan has hosted The 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games and well as the Western Canada Cup. They are continually putting forth and accepting applications and grants to host sporting events.

As for the forthcoming event, the mayor shared his excitement.

"I love watching curling. I'm not a good curler myself, but I do enjoy watching so I will be taking in a few of the games."

Estevan hosts the 2018 SaskTel Tankard January 31 - February 4th.
