With a rotating roster throughout, the TS&M Bantam Bruins found a win and two losses during their preseason tournament in Melville over the weekend.

Head Coach Blaine Chrest kept the new faces mixing in and out with the old, and he came a way with a clearer picture of what he has for a team this year.

They took the first game with a dominating 8-2 win, carried by James Mann, Kaden Chrest, and Connor Hewitt with two goals each, and Emmet McCarthy and Mason Kukura each tallying one.

No one was able to find the twine in game two, falling 5-0 to Melville. The next day, they finished a close match with the North East Wolfpack, but on the bottom, 3-2. Scoring came from Kaden Chrest and Colby Cuddington.

"It was a productive weekend for us...but we weren't measuring things in wins and losses. We were watching who can play, the expert level and those kinds of things. We were pleased with the weekend as it was," said Coach Chrest.

"We kind of had a pretty good idea going into the weekend of where we were and what we were looking for...the kids played as we kind of expected it to be. We still do have a couple of tough decisions with our goaltending back-up and one forward position, but we still have a little bit of time to sort that out before the beginning of the year."

He sees the 2018-19 Bantam Bruins as having a lot of depth on offense, quick, and also physical, which he noted came as a surprise.

"We knew we had some bangers and crashers, but a few of them like James Mann have stepped up their physical game and compete. We were extremely pleased with the way he did that for the weekend."

Chrest added that playing the trio of teams game them an opportunity to see what their opponents may be like later in the year.

The team takes on Weyburn on Saturday in exhibition action.
