The Estevan Tankard Committee was once again grateful for local support as they received two donations this morning. One from the 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games for $10,000 and another from Dart Services for $2,500.

Brian Smith, Co-Chair of the 2016 Summer Games:

"We had profits at the end of the Summer Games and we met as a board and we discussed a lot of options. Some of the money that we had extra went to various local sports organizations that wanted to improve their facilities. We also had some money that we gave to the City as a seed fund for future events. But we also discussed what's up and coming to Estevan and we thought the Tankard was a great event."

"The Western Canada Cup Committee gave us a very generous donation from their profits from their event. They helped us out and we'll help out the next major event to hit Estevan. And that Tankard was just a natural fit for us."

"We all like curling and I'm sure a lot of us will come and help volunteer or at least watch the event. I'm sure I'll be here to cheer some local teams on plus I like to do a little volunteering for it to so I'm looking forward to it."

Marty Hanson, Owner/Operator with Dart Services Ltd:

"We just like to get back to the community because everyone around here has been good to us so it's good to give back to keep the world going around."

"It's pretty exciting, I've never been to it yet, it's a big thing. It's awesome."

The Tankard will take place at Affinity Place in Estevan from January 31 - February 4th, 2018.
