As hockey, football, basketball and volleyball seasons get underway in Estevan, so does the cheerleader squad.

"We have just begun our cheerleading tryouts for our new season. However, I only managed to lose one athlete last year," shared Bonnie Chepil-Kvemme, the ECS cheerleading coach.

Their 2017-18 team had an accomplished run, winning their provincial competition over 110 other groups, and she believes they can do it again this year.

"My projection for this year is pretty good, I think it's going to be a pretty strong team."

Tryouts are currently underway, and the season will get started with a stunting clinic on September 30th, and cheering the various ECS sports seasons. Their first cheerleading competition begins in February.

"It's going to be a very exciting year for us. We're going to be trying some new and more difficult stunts, and hopefully we can show some of this off at future games we will be cheering at," added Chepil-Kvamme.
