It was a great way to start a new season with new faces at the helm of the ECS Elecs Senior Boys basketball team.

With Carmen Lindquist taking over as Head Coach, and Trevor Dutka jumping in at Assistant Coach, the boys hit the road to take on their Highway 39 rivals in Weyburn to get the year underway. They returned with the gold medal.

"I think the team played very well this weekend. They had to shake the rust off, obviously. It was our first weekend, and the teams that were at the tournament had games under their belts, so you could see it in our first game, that we were a little bit behind. But we definitely caught up as the weekend progressed," stated Dutka.

"We have a really good mix this season. We've got some experience, and some really good rookies coming up. When you're playing basketball, you've got a lot of good height and we've also got a lot of good speed. With that mixture, I think we're really going to be a competitive team this year."

Both Dutka and Lindquist have sons on the squad, making them easy fits with a vested interest with Hoopla as the target for the team.
