It's a stellar start for a team that promises to be a dangerous competitor on the court.

The ECS Senior Boys volleyball squad took in their first tournament of the season over the weekend in Weyburn, facing groups from Moose Jaw, Rouleau, Weyburn, Oxbow and Carnduff.

"Our boys played really well. (We) only lost one set all weekend, and ended up coming home with the tournament victory," shared Head Coach Nathan Johnson.

"We've got a veteran group. We've got ten players on the team, nine of them are in grade twelve. They've been playing for a few years now, both in high school and club volleyball. (They have) very good ball control, and a very good serving team. We've got some big guys that can really hit it as well, so that all helps lead into the victories."

He added that they're looking forward to the season ahead, playing every weekend and aiming for the provincial championship.

The next action for ECS Senior Boys volleyball goes the weekend of September 15-16 at the University of Regina tournament, in Regina.
