The start of a new football season has almost arrived for the ECS Elecs. On Saturday, the team will head to Moose Jaw to square off with the Vanier Vikings in their first regular season game of the year.

"The beginning of a new season is always very exciting for us," explained Elecs Head Coach Mark Schott. "We had a taste in our exhibition game against Weyburn, but it's different playing in a regular season game when things are on the line. We've had a good week at practice and have made progress on the field over the last two and a half weeks."

Schott also talked about their opponent, and what he is looking forward to from his young team.

"In recent history they implement a healthy mixture of passing and running in their offence. Defensively they've ran a similar system for the last few years and were prepared for that. We'll adjust accordingly during the game if we do see any changes."

"We have a lot of youth and athleticism, it's going to be exciting. The game will allow us as coaches to get a really good sense of what we have and what we're capable of as a team."

The Elecs and Vikings get underway at 1:00 on Saturday afternoon from Gutheridge Field in Moose Jaw.

The Estevan Century 21 Peewee Chargers are also in Moose Jaw on Saturday, as they are set to take on the Moose Jaw Mustangs.

Last Saturday, the Chargers opened up their regular season schedule at home with a 50-6 loss at the hands of the Moose Jaw Vikings.

The Chargers and Mustangs kick off at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon from Elks Field in Moose Jaw.
