Although the Saskatchewan Roughriders are knee deep in their season, minor and high school football is just getting set to kick off for another year here in the southeast corner of the province.

The ECS Elecs hold their equipment pick up day on August 22 from 3-5, with practices carrying on from there, and their first game on the 31st in Weyburn.

"We return a very youthful group from last year, so we're looking forward to having the majority of our team coming back. We have some very young, talented players that were a part of our team last year, and then we were able to add to that with this past spring camp that we had at the beginning of June," said Head Coach Mark Schott.

"We're very excited about the skill level and the youth that our team has. This core group should be one that we can make some noise with and will be together for the next couple of years. We have a nice window here, with the talent that we have on our team."

Among the key returning players are Hunter Eagles, Nigel Mack, and James Knibbs, while Caleb Bechtold will move up from minor football along with Parker Lavoie. Jonan Patchorik will also line up, as well as Colby Jansen.

"If anyone's interested in joining the team, whether they they came to spring camp or not, feel free to come down to the equipment hand out. If that doesn't work, any practice time that works to show up at the ECS Elecs practice field, we can get you into equipment and get you onto the field," Schott added.
