The ECS Elecs junior girls basketball team took down the Weyburn Eagles on Thursday night to become district champions.

When the final buzzer rang, it was the Elecs who edged the Eagles, 42-39. Although it was a great end to the year, Coach Kevin Kobitz notes it was a trying year.

"We had a kind of a inconsistent year up to that point. Our goal every year is to win in districts and we achieved that in Weyburn. We were under .500 in this season, close games for most of them but it was a good win at the end."

"All my girls have improved from start to finish, I think I have a good core of girls that will stay with the program for next year. This is my sixth year coaching and we've beat Weyburn all six years, it's a great feeling when we can beat them."

For the junior program, this marks the end of season.
