The Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs Senior Girls Basketball team returned home from their weekend tournament in Indian Head, as champions.

To kick off the tournament on Friday night, the girls wiped out Assiniboia 80-19, with Tatiana Dutka scoring 16 in the win. Friday night's win put the girls into a match up with their rivals from Weyburn. During that game the girls would dominate and cruise to a 56-38 win, where Dutka would score 24 to help send the girls into the finals against Wynyard.

In the finals, it was Tatiana Dutka who would once again step up and score a buzzer beater for a 45-44 victory, in what Elecs coach Jessie Smoliak called an extremely exciting game.

"I was very proud of them," Smoliak said. "They came through on a lot of things we've been working on including our defense and new offense."

"From the first tournament to the second, the girls have really gelled. Working on our defense and more in transition, getting the ball up the court faster has helped."

Morgan Fichter also had a big game in the finals, scoring 11 points in the win.

The girls will play in their alumni game on Thursday, December 21st, which will include the likes of former Elecs Kourtney Kobitz, who plays at Briercrest and Kristen Skjonsby, who suits up for the Medicine Hat College Rattlers.

Their next tournament will take place starting on January 5th, in Yorkton.
