The ECS Elecs and Weyburn Eagles renewed their rivalry on Tuesday night in Estevan during the 83rd installment of the McLeod Series.

In round one, the two senior girls teams traded blows right up until the final buzzer sounded. When it was all said and done, the two teams would need overtime to decide the game, where the Eagles got the best of the Elecs on a shot that dribbled in to make it 80-79 with no time left on the clock.

Tatiana Dutka looks for an opening during Tuesday's game against Weyburn.

"We didn't play that great of defense, offensively I thought we executed well," explained Head Coach, Jessie Smoliak. "I wish we would have drove more and attacked, Weyburn played really well I have to give them credit because they came out in our home gym and played well. It's not over yet and we'll be ready for next Tuesday when we have to go to Weyburn. It will be a lot harder, the home court advantage is huge."

The crowd in Estevan was out in full force on Tuesday night, as they were loud and proud of the home team during another instant classic between the two rivals.

"This is one of the best events we have here in Estevan at the high school, we get so much community involvement and great fan support, it's just awesome."

The Elecs will travel to Weyburn on Tuesday, February 13th, where they will take on the Eagles in the fourth leg of the storied McLeod series.

eeks McLeod Series finale with a slim one point lead, Wilson mentioned a change in strategy will be key to another Elecs victory.

"This is crazy to have this kind of stuff happen, for sure it makes a difference and that's why it's nice to get the win tonight because I'm sure Weyburn is going to be just as loud. We'll be changing our game plan a little bit for next week, I think it will be a bit of a different game with a different strategy," Wilson concluded.

The Elecs will take their 179-178 lead into Weyburn next Tuesday, looking for their fourth straight McLeod series win.
