Coaches of the ECS Elecs football squad wrapped up their spring camp on Friday feeling encouraged and excited with the outcome, and looking forward to what the upcoming season may hold.

"We were definitely very impressed with the turnout. We had, in total, about 46 or 47 different kids come out. Some of those were the bantam kids that came out with their coaches, just to gain some experience at the high school level, become familiar with our program for when they eventually move up to our team. That left us with about 35-40 high school eligible kids," said Head Coach Mark Schott.

It may have been one of the best turnouts for a camp that the Elecs have ever had, according to Schott, who's anticipating having plenty of bodies to fill the ranks and positions come fall.

"We're hoping that our young core that we have on our team is generating some excitement within the school and bringing some more players out, and that seems to be what happened at our spring camp."

"I think we're going to be very athletic and fast. We have a nice mix of players that have played football before and other kids that are just really good athletes," he noted, adding that they'll have a new quarterback and quite a bit of talent in the receiver core and running backs.

The coaches were also pleased at the willingness to learn and eagerness of those who attended the camp.

"Among the coaching staff, that leads to a lot of excitement, when you have a good group of kids that want to get better and want to be coached. That's something that we're looking forward to, working with these kids, because they're excited to be there and want to do what they can to get better," Schott expressed.

With that young core and talent in the key positions, he feels that the Elecs are poised to be a competitive bunch when the fall football season comes around.
