Several hard fought battles were seen on the ice over the weekend as another peewee minor hockey tournament took place.

Estevan's Peewee Wolves, Thunder and Storm proved to be tough opponents, and the latter two both found themselves in the finals. The Thunder, despite a valiant 3rd period comeback attempt, fell 15-4 to the Weyburn Wings in the B final. The Storm were contenders to the last, and fought down to the wire in a 5-4 loss to the Whitewood Elks in the A final.

"Every team faces some adversity along the way, and that's a good opportunity for us to learn to grow," stated Storm Head Coach Lloyd Sehn.

He said that the most important lesson for the kids to take away from the weekend is to not get too down on yourself, to learn from mistakes to be a better team later on.

Nine different teams from around the province were in the Energy City to compete in the tournament, and Sehn noted that it had a good outcome.

"Overall, it went very well, it was well run. Our team did very well, and we were happy with the results. We had some real tight games here, and you can't win them all, so we're happy to be here. We can say we left it all on the ice."
