Fans of the Estevan Motor Speedway will be treated to a double dip of Sprint Car races in June.

According to Speedway President, Byron Fichter, it will be quite the rare occasion to have back to back nights of Sprint Cars.

"We're happy to announce there will be a sprint car double header," Fichter said. "I think it's the first time we've ever done it at the Speedway here in Estevan, if not it's been a long time."

"They feel that when you run a double header, it attracts cars from a farther distance because they can travel and race two events. We're excited on the possibility of attracting cars we've never seen before and bringing more people to the Speedway. For someone who has been involved with racing for a long time, they're a fairly historical class because they are one of the classes that got dirt track going a long time ago."

A local Sprint Car driver who saw success on his home track last year, had a lot to do with with bringing the double header to the Energy City. Along with the local flavor appearing in the races, Fichter also said the Sprint Car class always seems to generate a lot of interest.

"Kyle Fedyk has been a long time sprint car driver out of Estevan and he's associated with this group and a member of our board. He helped bridge the deal with that to make it possible, he did a lot of leg work on it. Tyson Turnbull has also got into the class, well known from some of the other classes he's raced in before. It's always exciting to watch local guys compete with everyone else."

"It's a special class, every time I talk to people after we run them, they have an allure that draws a different fan. It helps us generate new fans, every time you can get someone to the track that hasn't been there before, there's nothing wrong with that."

Sprint Car's will hit the dirt track on June 22nd and 23rd. With under two months to go until the Test'N'Tune, the countdown is on for both drivers and fans alike.
