"We won the bid to host provincials this year, which is absolutely fantastic," stated ECS Golf Coach Wes Kreklewich, who previewed the tournament on each of CJ1150, Sun102 and Rock106 on Thursday morning. "It gives our kids an opportunity to play on their home course and they are certainly looking forward to it."

Following the opening ceremonies with dignitaries such as Estevan Mayor Roy Ludwig and Souris-Moose Mountain MP Robert Kitchen, the tournament begins with round one on Friday morning and concludes with the final round on Saturday.

"We have two tournaments running simultainiously," adds Kreklewich. "We'll have boys individual and boys team, as well as girls individual and girls team."

"And thanks to their great play at pre-districts in Kenosee Lake and districts in Moosomin, we'll have teams in all four categories from ECS."

The junior golf program in Estevan has been very strong for the past several years, which Kreklewich says reflects very well both on the talented golfers and the dedication from individuals in Estevan.

"We've been doing fantastic, and it's a credit to the golf course in Estevan and to those who were golf coaches in the past," expressed Kreklewich. "People like Eldon Rondeau and Rick Rohatyn, even a past provincial medalist and current coach Amanda Minchin."

"Their help every day on the course is so crucial to these kids' development."

Opening Ceremonies take place at 10:15 on Friday morning. Round One begins with a shotgun start at 11am with Round Two on Saturday beginning with a shotgun start at 9am.
