The 2nd annual Demo Derby at the Estevan Motor Speedway turned out to be a smash, with variety of vehicles in the mud-pit taking a beating and making their own mark on each other.

The feature event turned out to have a bit of a friendly family feud, as father and son duo Kevin and Carson Dixon worked together to take out the other cars in the ring, then proceeded to go at one another.

Kevin (89) and Carson (68) knocked the other cars of of contention before facing off.

"I've been doing it for about 11 years, and he's been doing it for forever," said Carson, this last event being his 10th this year.

"I just came out of retirement last year when Estevan had it for the first time. I had a fun time, so I thought I'd try it again," Kevin added.

The pair didn't really expect to be the last ones standing, however, it made for some ribbing between them.

"I'm glad it ended up this way, but I'm not," Kevin chuckled.

As for Carson, a joke ran that his hits on his father's vehicle appeared to be a bit gentle compared to what he could have put in.

"Yeah, I've still gotta go home to him," he laughed.

Their strategy going into the feature was, according to the son, to avoid getting hung up on the edge of the ring, which was his undoing last year.

Other winners of the night included Mark Tribiger and Mack Metheral, who took first and second respectively in the consolation heat.
