The Estevan Golden Eels are getting a strong start to their season, with evidence of that showing over the past weekend.

44 members traveled to Regina for their second meet, and nearly a third returned home with a medal. The rest beat their own best in at least one race.

"All the kids swam really well. We had a lot of 7 year olds there, it was their very first meet, and they were nervous but did great in the end," stated Melanie Dzeryk with the Eels.

In total, 12 medals were collected, and the group finished in first place in total points at 950, nearly 400 points above the second place finisher, the Regina Piranhas.

The Eels' next meet takes place July 7th in Swift Current.
