Estevan's Taeghen Hack is thrilled to be on one of Saskatchewan’s best teams for 2018.
Hack was a part of the 19U provincial water polo team that won gold at nationals in Montreal last summer. That team was recognized as one of the three finalists for Sask Sport's team of the year.
“I just found out about the nomination (Monday), and it was a pretty good feeling that we were nominated, because that was the first time in a long time we’ve won at nationals,” she said. “We’ve always come close to winning but never won… now that we’ve won and been nominated for the award it’s a pretty good feeling.”
Hack was in the water when the team clinched the national championship.
“I was part of the last play, and just to feel the win was so amazing, and see everyone jump up,” she said. It was the greatest feeling ever.”
Hack said the team worked hard leading into the final tournament.
“At practices leading up to nationals, we trained our butts off and we worked and worked and worked,” Hack said. “It sure paid off when we went to nationals.”
Hack will be a member of the team this year as well and they’re preparing for a qualifying tournament this weekend.
