The IMCA has announced a few rule changes for the upcoming 2019 racing season, and while only minor, a few will be noticed at the Estevan Motor Speedway.

"I think most of the classes are staying the same, as far as I can tell," says Speedway President Byron Ficther, "The A Modifieds usually attract the most attention when it comes to rule changes, and they have a few that are fairly slight. They changed the minus spring height, they also did some alterations to the size of the roof. There's a couple other body-line changes as far as aerodynamics, and I think another one of the big ones is that they have a carb spacer rule. You can only run an approved manufacturer carb spacer. That's what I get out of it."

At the EMS, race fans and drivers will see the new rules played out in the various classes that compete.

"Once we apply for our (IMCA) license for next year, we will be sent a rule package, which at that point will be turned over to our teching staff. They will have to go through the rules and become familiar what changes have been made and what they're going to have to look for at the track when it comes time to check some of the racecars," explains Fichter.

"The rule changes are kind of slight. Our tech guys are pretty involved so I'm assuming they already have an idea of what the rule changes are and are already knowing what to look for. That being said, it's kind of the onus of the track to make sure that they're provided with the equipment they need to check those things."
