The 2018 SaskTel Tankard planning committee received a boost this morning when they were presented with a $1,000 donation from L & C Trucking Ltd.

"L & C has been in this community for over 50 years," shared Bruce Firth, the Controller at L & C Trucking. "And they've been a major contributor to a lot of events so this is not unlike any other."

"We wanted to make sure that this event is successful and Estevan gets a good name for itself within the community so L & C just wanted to be a part of the process."

He added that hosting events of this calibre are a great opportunity for Estevan.

"It brings people to Estevan. A lot of people maybe don't venture down this far south so a lot of people from up north can come down and see the benefits and the great city we have here. It gets the city of Estevan out there."

As for the curling, Firth shared that he will take in a few games.

"I'll likely bring my mother who is an avid curler. She doesn't curl anymore but she watches it when it's on TV so I'm assuming I'll bring her here so she can watch this great event."

The SaskTel Tankard begins on January 31st at Affinity Place.
