You can't tell from in the grandstands, but Lampman's Riley Raynard (97R) has more purpose in his driving than just winning a race.

He drives a specially modified Hobby Stock car, as he deals with Muscular Dystrophy and thus has to modify a few items in order to compete. When he drives, every lap he leads sends one dollar from Laps for MD to Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

Raynard recently took part in an invitational race at the Kings Park Speedway near Regina, raising funds for LapsMD. Although his performance on the track itself didn't yield results, thanks to some brake problems, he now has a big cheque of $1,565 to hand to the organization.

"They had some draws and whatnot, and they ended up making $565 on that. Then on top of that, they donated $1,000 right from the Kings Park Speedway Club, so that was really nice. Once I was done racing, I got to stop on the front stretch in front of the flagstand and they presented me with a cheque."

He and the rest of the Raynard will donate the funds to Laps for MD, who will then give it to the national organization, Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

In the meantime, he heads south to the Fall Nationals event in Kansas to wrap up his racing season.
