Eight southeast residents are off to the City of Lights to battle the highest calibre 8-ball pool players across the glittering tables of Las Vegas.

The Estevan Xtreme Scratchers, having qualified for the upcoming American Pool Association World Pool Championships back in June, will pit their skills against the best of the best from around the globe at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino, August 9th-18th.

"We leave Friday, and we're going to drive down," said Team Captain Daniyale Lalonde, outlining their preparations for the big event, "We've been doing some practicing here and there, working on some drills and stuff. We've done some fundraising to help cover some of the costs to get down there."

"We're crazy excited to go. I think it'll be a really great time...we've got a little bit of a fan base of people excited to watch us go down."

The team will have to take time to adjust to the new surroundings, as well as a slightly larger table to play on. Their first match gets underway on the 13th, so they will spend the intermediate time sightseeing, and preparing to bring their A game and represent Saskatchewan.
