Although Byron Fichter rolled his vehicle during the Hobby Stock race on August 4th, he is getting ready to compete again this Saturday at the Estevan Motor Speedway.

"I felt fine the vehicles are built for that kind of thing, they have a full roll cage and they have a full containment seat with a neck brace and everything. I had a few bruises on my shoulders where the belts were attached but other than that everything else was fine," Byron shared.

"There's some significant amount of damage, the frame in front of the front suspension but it's all repairable though so looks like the car will be ready to roll for the weekend so that's good. Just a few other minor things such as bent rims and flat tires and stuff but nothing overly fatal but still more damage than what I would have liked to have had."

Fichter's season before the crash was going pretty well overall.

"I think it was going alright. I'm a rookie this year so that was only my 5th or 6th race, I can't remember which. There's a lot of learning pains with the sport it's not as easy as people think it is. I've had nights where I started 22nd and made it up to 15th, so passing cars and going forward is all you can ask for I think," he stated.

Even though Byron is racing again soon, he might not come back for another season.

"I'm not exactly sure yet if we're going to continue racing, it's a lot of fun but it's also a lot of work and just with my actual work and everything I'm not sure if I'll have the time to continue with it but if my pit guy stays really good and he wants to help work on the car then I would like to put in at least another season. Racing is a lot of fun, ultimately work takes presence before fun but if we can fit it in then we're going to try."

"I just want to thank the emergency response team that was working that night, they got there quick and made sure I was okay and all that. The race track crew preps the track and everything, they prep an amazing track all the time and it's awesome that the volunteers put that time in so we can go have somewhere to race. I would also like to thank my sponsors, they've been amazing this year and I would like to thank my pit guy for helping me work on the car. I couldn't do it without any of those people, so I'm just thankful for anyone that can help us race every week."
