The Estevan Mermaids took nine members to compete in this past weekends Canadian Prairie Championship in Winnipeg.

Hannah Mantei came away with the Gold Medal in her Solo performance in the 13-15 year old category.

The duet team of Laura Swirski and Rebecca Duncan finished 8th in the 13-15 year old category.

The girls competed in figures with seventeen other clubs across Canada.

In the 11-12 year old category, Laura Swirski placed 35th. Also In figures, the 13-15 year old category saw Hannah Mantei and Gemma Bittman crack the top 10, In 6th with a score of 60.08 and in 9th with a score of 59.41 respectively. 

Nyla Dyck placed 18th, Haley Copeland 22nd, Rebecca Duncan 41st, and Caitlin Graham 45th out of all 65 competitors.

In the 16-18 year old category, Marlie Weinrauch finished 18th, followed by Mayah Daoust in 30th place.

In the team routine the Mermaids finished in 7th.

"Our team routine wasn't executed as well as we would have liked,"noted Bridgett Bittman, Media Rep for the Mermaids, "The bar was raised significantly from provincials where the Mermaids dominated, but we are extremely proud of our athletes who showed remarkable strength of character."

Three mermaids will compete in next months Synchro Sask High Performance Program trials in Regina on June 10th.

The Mermaids three High Performance athletes are Hannah Mantei, Gemma Bittman and Haley Copeland.
