The Midget AA Apex Bruins are off to the league championship.

Estevan edged Melville 3-2 on Sunday afternoon to win the Best-of-5 series (3-1).

After Melville avoided a sweep on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Estevan, the Millionaires came out strong in trying to force a fifth and deciding game back in Estevan.

Melville scored twice in the first 2:17 of the game to jump out to an early 2-0 lead in Game 4 and held that lead into the second period.

The Midget AA Bruins were able to cut into that lead in the middle frame as Kale Martens got Estevan on the board just over three minutes in to make it 2-1 after 40 minutes of play.

Having just come off a 5-game series in the quarterfinals against Notre Dame, the Midget AA squad had no intentions of going the distance for a second straight series in the 3rd period.

Preston Audet tied the game with 9:20 to play to make it 2-2. Then, with 3:33 remaining in regulation, Liam Ruttan scored the series-winning goal to make it 3-2. Bryson Garton and the Bruins defence held the fort late in the game to clinch the victory for Estevan.

The Midget AA Bruins will now face the Yorkton Terriers in the league final after Yorkton defeated Weyburn (3-1) in their semi-final series.

Estevan will once again have home-ice advantage after finishing one point ahead of Yorkton during the regular season.
