The Midget AAA Southeast Twins enjoyed a few days on the diamonds in southern Alberta over the weekend, during the 30th Annual "AA" American Legion Baseball Tournament.

Coming away with a 2-2 record, the Twins were able to push themselves into a 5th place finish among 8 teams in the tournament. Game one saw the Twins square off with the Parkland Twins from Spruce Grove, which ended up in a 3-2 win for the boys from south east Saskatchewan.

"Definitely thought Parkland was going to be one of the top teams in the tournament heading in," explained Head Coach, Blaine Kovach. "Things just went really well that game, we had great pitching and we played well defensively."

With a pair of games on the schedule for Saturday, the Twins would lose to the Calgary Blues and Lethbridge Elks.

"We were in both games, but we ended up losing both. One bad inning defined the story for those games, you have one or two errors that make a big difference in the game. We could have easily had a couple more wins."

After losses on Saturday, the Twins would end up meeting the Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs, which would see a huge effort from the Twins pay off during an 11-8 victory.

"We played a really defensively sound game, and we had some really good pitching," Kovach said of their win on Sunday. "This time our bats came alive and it was great to see, we were hitting the ball hard, capitalizing on their errors and hitting the gaps. It made a big difference and we started to look really good that game, hopefully we can continue that into league play."

The Twins will have to continue to keep the bats hot heading into their next league game. A visit to Regina will see the Twins take on the Wolfpack, who have gotten off to a tremendous start in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League.
