Overtime was necessary but the Estevan midget AA Apex Bruins were able to win 4-3 last night over the Notre Dame Argos.

The Bruins allowed the Argos’ Robby Rabroker to score the tying goal with 2:02 left in regulation, but Kieran Stewart scored at 3:19 of overtime to give the Bruins the win. Cale Adams, Joey Meredith and Chase Gedak got the other goals for the Bruins and Dylan Hull and Cade Bendsten added a pair of assists each.

Zane Winter stopped 25 of 28 shots in the Bruins net.

With 36 points, the Bruins are now tied with the Regina Vics for third place in the South Saskatchewan division of the Saskatchewan Midget AA Hockey League, although the Vics have two games in hand.

The Bruins’ next action is at 8 p.m. Friday at home against the Notre Dame Hounds.
