After a rocky start, the Midget AA Bruins are regaining the spring in their skate after pumelling the Weyburn Wings 7-1 over the Thanksgiving long weekend on Saturday.

It was all Estevan's show in the first period, with a goal from Tayce Miller on a power play, and two more from Kieran Stewart and Chase Gedak. Dalton Schrader added one in the second to make it 4-0. Less than two minutes into the third frame, Joey Meredith found the twine off a power play, while Gedak then added his second of the night. Cade Bendtsen added another power play tally to make it 7-0, before Mitchell McDonald scored on a Weyburn power play that came off of a trio of penalties to Estevan's Kaleb Poole, for head contact and unsportsmanlike conduct, as well as a 10 minute major misconduct.

"It was good to pick up a win. It was kind of getting to the point where we needed one there, and I thought we came out with a sixty minute effort," said Head Coach Riley Hengen, "Hopefully it can be a confidence builder for us going forward."

"Our team defense has improved from the first weekend there when played each Notre Dame team. We were a lot more positionally sound in our own end, which led to less high scoring chances for the other team. If we can just keep our own end in check, the goals will come for us."

The Midget Bruins are back on the ice on Wednesday for the rubber match with the Wings, in Weyburn at 8:15 PM.
